"It was a great pleasure to be here, academically very rewarding. The choice of text was definitely challenging and enriching. Megan and Chris make wonderful instructors." (2009)
"Everything was fine; pace of work [was] good and user-friendly" (2009)
"I liked the relaxed atmosphere . . . . [but] felt rushed at lunch. We could have lingered at the lunch table and maybe remarked on the morning's session . . . Thanks for making this summer special." (2009)
"This has been fabulous. . . . Perhaps encourage the 'best' readers to give a little more time for the rest of us plebs to sort things out without jumping in so quickly." (2009)
"Should have class outdoors if weather is nice . . . . schedule was nice as it allowed free time to prepare . . . Latin Camp T-shirts are great. Keep movie night on the wall of truth." (2009)
"I like having two groups at different levels. It provides a comfortable and enjoyable (less intimidating) place for those whose Latin is not so great. The price is right! I loved movie night." (2009)
"It was a wonderful experience" (2009)
"[The instructors'] patience and care were beyond personal expectations. I am now a fan and groupie. . . . Perhaps more time before the afternoon sessions to get the assignments prepared." (2009)
"The room could be warmer." (2009)
"I have just returned from another WONDERFUL experience at Dickinson College's "summer Latin camp" workshop. This year, in just 6 class days, we read the entire corpus of Catullus - including those oh so naughty non-Ap-syllabus ones! Chris Francese (this year with the wonderful help of Meghan Reedy) conducted seminars twice daily and 9 of us "Latin geeks" participated.
I cannot tell you all how valuable this experience is to me personally. The chance to read Latin with colleagues, to discuss it and to compare our experiences is absolutely vital to those of us who find ourselves spending most of our time with curriculum during the school year. A workshop which demands much, without the pressure of grades, essays, and the like, reminds me again and again of why I do what I do.
I am sure that Chris will once again advertise this workshop next spring and I urge you all to think seriously about joining us in lovely Carlisle, PA in 2009." (Posted on Latinteach 7/20/2008)
"I'm very glad I participated in the 2008 Dickinson College Latin Workshop on Catullus. It was incredibly challenging to read hundreds of lines of Catullus every day. Yet the atmosphere was friendly and supportive. Every one in the class brought something to the table. Reading Latin poetry with such qualified professors was a treat made even sweeter by interacting with other Latin teachers and sharing in their wisdom and experience throughout the week. Thank you for your efforts to provide such an enriching experience for us." (2008)
